Study of Spanish-Speaking Blogosphere
Blogómetro crawls more than 2000 Spanish language weblogs. It was developed by Fernando Tricas of Universidad de Zaragoza, Victor Ruiz, and Juan J. Merelo-Guervós of Universidad de Granada.
The team wrote a study: Do we live in a small world? Measuring the Spanish-speaking Blogosphere (PDF, 640KB). Some findings:
- The number of blogs is growing:
- November 2002 - 943 blogs
- January 2003 - 1299 blogs
- May 2003 - 2119 blogs
- Averaging 1.14 new posts per day per blog
- Blogging is a weekday (workday?) activity.
- Some blogs bridge the English and Spanish blogospheres. So memes cross between the two networks, otherwise isolated.
